Valentino & Gap

Just days after Lanvin and H&M's pairing, there came another exciting collaboration- Valentino and Gap.

I guess this is a new definition for fashion. Haute Couture wants a piece of the mass market whereas your everyday brands want to be upmarket too. Most importantly, this is exactly what shoppers want, isn't it? We want luxury in our basics! Valentino definitely saw Gap's influence on its shoppers and Gap wants to tap on Valentino's iconic design and image.

Gap will be opening their milan flagship store at Corso Vittorio Emanuele in November, alongside a new hot capsule, designed by Valentino's creative directors, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Picolo Piccioli (this collaboration might be an impressive PR stint to introduce Valentino's new creative directors since it could no longer boast Valentino, the man himself, as the designer).

The designers say they want to 'bring together the iconic world of Valentino and Gap's fashion essentials by combining luxury with basics'. My fingers and toes are all crossed, hoping there will be ultra elegant frocks which Valentino is famous for!

I heard the collection will be sold at Gap's current price range. Don't jump in joy yet. Sadly, the collection will only be available at Gap's London Oxford Street flagship store, Dover Street Market and Paris' Collette store. There has yet to be plans in United States, meaning there will be no presents for us in Singapore too :( It is disgustingly tempting to pay a couple of hundreds for a Valentino piece at Gap since this pathetic amount most probably could not even get us the cheapest Valentino coin pouch. But is Valentino's name worth the plane ticket & hotel stay in Europe?

Someone do something and bring this slice of Italian luxury to Gap Singapore! I don't mind if someone brings H&M here too! It's time already.
